Google Hates Keyword Optimized Anchor Text on Widgets

If you are distributing widgets as a part of your seo strategy to get inbound links you might get into trouble google has updated their webmaster guidelines page recently according to their new guidelines you can't use keyword optimized anchor text anymore.

A webmaster asked question that his site share widgets and info graphics which contains embeded links to their website should they add nofollow in those links?

Matt cutts the head of google web spam team has recently stated that these links doesn't have any editorial weight as people don't usually notice those links on widgets/infographics as they just copy paste the code. Same with online counter providing sites which usually give away free counters with a link back to their own page.

New Updated:
Old Guideline:

Matt suggested that webmaster should add rel="nofollow" to these links and avoid highly optimize anchor text on them.

Optimized Anchor Text?? It means if you use your branded anchor text like yourcompany.com it will be fine rather then putting something like "web hosting discount" also some general anchor text like "click here", or "go to the website" can be good alternative option as in this case you are not spamming actually many widget developers develop these widgets for generating traffic.

Matts also pointed out an interesting fact that these widget links doesn't contain much weight due to it's easy to get nature so blog post links still tops the chart because of their editorial value behind them.

Why Advertising Based Business Model Not Sustainable

Media companies have always seen ups and down when they try to monetize their content inventory with advertising by looking at their their annual profit reports it always saddens both investors as well as publishers their are lots of factors which makes adverting based business model unsustainable.

Lower eCPM

==================================

When recession strikes in companies taking out their money out of advertising markets due to that lack of competition between advertiser it has lowered the overall eCPM and the result you can see in your own dashboard whatever ad network you might be using you will notice signification loss in your average cpc as you were getting previous years.

Google Updates

====================================

Google continuous algorithm update has biggest impact on online publishers as they have biggest search market share and even if you like it or not we all depend on google for traffic, some wise guys might suggest you that it's not wise to depend google for traffic but still at the end of the game we do need google to make people find our website specially newly launched businesses that don't have brand or want to build their own brand from scratch.

Fluctuating Search Results: When you look at the search results you won't see same search results,today every time you surf on google your search position does belly dancing sometimes it's on first page the very next day it's on 4 th page of the search result.

Due to this fluctuating search traffic ad revenues fluctuate too as a result we get horrible average income some month you going to earn 1000$ and very next month you earn 200$.

Fast Updates: Now a days they are doing too much experiment with their search algorithm every 1-2 month they come up new algoritm updates and bang your organic traffic lost and you just wonder why? what has affected your organic traffic and when you figure it out and do necessary changes bang another updates comes by and your search traffic drops again.

Higher Cost of Production

=====================================

This is the main reason why you should not go with advertising based business model now search quality standers has tighten up and with current requirement you can't pay someone 5$-15$ dollar to write engaging indepth article for you.

Free user submitted content is not an option either just look at what happened with article directories they all hurt badly at serp. The biggest article directory ezinearticles.com which used to hang up under 150 on alexa rank now at 719.same with articlesbase which was under 250 now at 3074 also note that ezinearticles have 77,862 backlinks and have been operating from many years.

ezinearticles.com traffic stats

articlesbase traffic stats

By looking at the above graph it clear that with low quality content this can happen to your business too.
No, business is sustainable for longer term if you are paying more then you are earning with lower eCPM and high quality standers it hard to produce quality content at such cheap rates.

The Solution

===================================

Today you need implement multiple source of income and have solid business plan rather then driving blind folded. Just look at growth of hubspot they have shown 82% growth in their annual income and soon going to hit 50 milllion they have achieved it just by doing content marketing other successful business like kissmetrics are tasting the same pie.

So here is a basic plan you need to survive with the current market trend.

=============================================

1) Avoid Advertising Completely or Partially ( Just don't depend on it just look at it as some side income )
2) Have a Product To Sell ( Selling something always Rocks then advertising)
3) Create A Blog
4) Produce Quality Content And Build Audience
5) Monetize Your Audience By Selling Them Your Product And Services.

Sounds easy but you need to know more on this their is an ebook which covers content marketing which you can download here. Basically it's a ebook on affiliate marketing but the tricks given on this ebook can be use to sell your own products as well. I like the topics that this ebook has covered from beginning to end it's a complete guide very helpful for content marketers.

NoFollow Links: These links are just opposite of what dofollow links are they don't have any seo benefit they don't help in ranking your website neither boost your website's pagerank. Example of nofollow link :

example.com

Does User Interaction Affects Your Site Ranking?

Today i came across an interesting discussion on webmaster world where one webmaster questioned that if he gets 1000 likes on his post will google will boost his seo rankings.

1: Google always said that if a content is good it will generate likes and thus more people will likely to link to it which will help that content to rank higher in the serps.

but as we all see social signals do affect our real time search you might have noticed that if you are searching and your friend has +1 a post it will appear more earlier compared with the other post.

When social media was introduced it seen that google have been trying to implement some data in improving their search result and making their search result more realistic then algorithmic,

So What Google Is UpTo? Will Backlinks Going To Be Replaced By Social Signals

There is a video which will give you some hint

As matt cutts has said in this video they do uses twitter and facebook likes in account but currently their influence is not much larger.

In Short, links are still powerful metrics of ranking your website and it doesn't seems to fade away right now as far as facebook likes and tweets are concern they can be manipulated you can easily find some freelance seos selling facebooks likes on fiver for just 5$.

I Will Tell You Best Way To Do Article Marketing

People always screw themselves when it comes to article marketing either by writing crap articles that nobody can read more then a second or in the second part of distributing their piece in different article directories.

Article marketing revolves around writing and then distributing lets first concentrate on writing part before you go on creating your piece the first thing your all focus should be a catchy title.

Titles are the first thing people going to see in your article it's the first impression and according to a study you have only 6 seconds to grab someone attentions failed to do so leads to bad CTR maybe you have high quality content but if you won't focus on titles you won't get it read.

Creating Titles

If you can't think out some good titles doing competitor research can help you out in getting right title for your piece first you need to find a blog that is in your niche and it has got audience if that blog is good at creating titles copy their style can do a lot of difference.

Also make a note of their popular post what titles are getting more attention, Let me tell you a secrete a controversial titles gain more CTR then normal titles their are many myth or beliefs in any niche or reveling those will instantly grab visitors attention or you can oppose something which many others believes in.

Writing With The Taste Of Audience

You can write engaging content if you know what people love to read for that again you have to do competitor research and note down what people share the most like wrting on those topics which gets more tweets and facebook likes.

You also need to find out what are the hot topics right now you can find them in many discussion forums or any place where your niche peoples hang out. As i run a webmaster forum my community members discuss about many latest news and hot gossips on seo.

Promotional Articles

Articles written for selling products comes under promotional article if you have product you can spread positive vibes about your product deliver it features and sales pitch to your audience this can magically boost your sales.

Spreading Your Content

Content creation is the first half article marketing speading your content is the second half and you need to master them both if you want to be sucessfull article marketer and this is where most people fail.

Content distribution is an important task in any article marketing campaing but most people do this in a traditional way by going to each an every article directory possible and submit their content in each one of them just imagine when you run a quick search on google with a keyword "article directory"

As you can see their are 748,000,000 search result so you can think how many article directories are their and submitting on them can be too much of work.

But you can lower your work load with softwares like magic submitter. It's an incredible tool many pro article marketers are using. It can boost your content across many different channels from article directories, social bookmark sites, and forum sites.
